Baby Obed was brought to us by a nurse and Social worker from Kapkatet Hospital with the company of other staff members from Kapkatet Hospital and a police officer on 20/03/2020. The report was that there was a woman who had boarded a vehicle heading to Kisii town who had baby Obed. The baby was crying a lot to the point where passengers suspected that the woman(Joyce)was not the real mother of the baby because when they told her to lactate the child the woman was not in a position of doing that and yet she continued claiming that the child belonged to her. Later, the police officers on road Traffic check along Kericho-Litein road were informed and the woman was arrested and taken to Litein Police Station to answer the Charge of Child Trafficking. The children’s officer was informed about the case and she recommended that the child should be taken toKapkatet Sub-county Hospital for treatment and examination. It was then through the social worker and the Nursing officer from Kapkatet Sub-county Hospital and the children’s officer the child was referred to us. The police officer who had accompaniedBabyObedto our Institution with the team from Kapkatet Sub-county Hospital reported to us that, the woman (Joyce) was still under custody and that the investigations were underway to really find out if the child belonged to her, the Police officer also reported that a DNA Test was to be conducted to help in the case.
